What we do
Specialty lighting fails in the gaps — between the electrician who pulled the wire, the rep who sold the fixture, and the integrator who never showed up. SDSL holds all three scopes, so there is no gap to fall into.
The full electrical scope a specialty lighting package carries: conduit and pathway, feeders and branch circuits, power and data distribution, and the infrastructure RGBW systems need to run reliably. We hold the C-10 so the lighting scope doesn't get split across two contractors.
Signify / Color Kinetics IntelliHue luminaires on facades and structures, and inside lobbies, ballrooms, restaurants, theaters and pool decks — saturated color and tunable white from the same fixture. Plus LED retrofit and revival of color systems already installed. We fabricate custom mounting when the fixture and the structure don't agree, which at a ballpark is most of the time.
Data Enabler Pro G3 topology, DMX and RDM addressing, Color Kinetics and Pharos programming, scene design, and documented handover. This is the part most bidders leave blank. It's the part the CEO does personally.

How a job runs
Specialty lighting has a real sequence. Skip a step and you find out at close-out, in front of the owner, in the dark.
We read the lighting designer's drawings before pricing them. Where the spec and the field disagree — mounting, pathway, power density, fixture count — we flag it during budgeting, not during rough-in. On facade work we present two fully-costed equipment options rather than deciding for you.
Luminaire schedules, cut sheets, control riser, and long-lead ordering. We work with value-added partners rather than a chain of middlemen, which keeps the addressing scheme and the hardware consistent.
Conduit, boxes, feeders, data pathway, and the mounting details we fabricate when the standard bracket won't hold on a curved parapet or a bridge pylon.
On facade and feature work we mock up on the building at night before anything is ordered — renderings don't settle throw angles. Then set, aimed, sealed, and labeled, with every fixture recorded against its position on the drawing.
DMX universes assigned, fixtures addressed and mapped, controller loaded, scenes and timelines built, astronomical schedule set. The system does what the designer drew, not what the default preset does.
Owner walkthrough, as-built addressing documentation, and training for whoever runs the building. One-year workmanship warranty from final commissioning, three-year available, manufacturer warranty administered by us. We answer the phone in year three.
Who we work with
CEO Brendan McCartney and CCO April Hatton personally lead every project from mobilization through commissioning — and on our current ballpark contract, personally perform it. Between them they have worked the manufacturer side, the rep side and the tools. You are not handed to a project coordinator after the contract is signed.
