Principal experience
SDSL is a young company built on two long careers. The projects below were directed or delivered by our CEO and CCO in prior roles — Brendan founding and running an architectural dynamic lighting division on the contracting side, April running crews as a foreman. We list them as principal experience rather than company past performance, because that distinction matters on a bid.
San Diego Unified Port District engineering lighting study, Phases I and II. Overwater work at Piers 16, 17 and 18, with engineered suspension systems, project management and commissioning, coordinated between the Port District and CalTrans.
Lobby wall illumination — turnkey delivery of more than 10,000 individually addressable RGB nodes, engineered and installed as a single feature surface.
Our CEO founded and ran an architectural dynamic lighting division on the contracting side, building it from zero into a profitable first year and delivering turnkey work from site visit through commissioning across the San Diego market.

What these have in common
Venue and landmark lighting is rarely a catalog install. The luminaire the designer chose was not made for that canopy, the access window falls between home stands, and the structure is either historic, occupied, over water, or all three.
